New job

The last four and a half or so years, I’ve worked at a gardening center. I liked it there, the work wasn’t to hard and the pay wasn’t to bad. Its not really something for me though. Recently, however, I got a chance at a new job thats much more in my area of.. things I like? The pay is about the same, the people there are nice, and the work is much more fun; I install / fix computers, now. 🙂 (It just has one downside: I only work half the hours I used to, so in total, less $$$. This downside also has an upside, though, so its okay.)

Have a look at the new and improved me

Well, you can’t really, because I don’t have a photo of it yet, but lets see if I can explain the picture in less then a thousand words: I have glasses, now. (Hmm, that wasn’t to hard.) My distance sight wasn’t verry good (or, as I see now: pretty bad) which does not come in handy if you are trying to drive a car. (Its not that I care about being able to see whats ahead of me, but the examinators for the tests do.) I’ve had them for about a week now, and I hardly even notice I have them on anymore. (Yesterday I forgot them in my hurry and didn’t notice untill somebody asked me where they where.) Others do notice, and most of them are really positive. (They say I look more mature, more like an adult, and on occasion I hear it makes me look sexy. 😀 )
Photo may follow soon.

I’m back – though I wasn’t really gone

The last two weeks or so, I’ve been kinda gone. Meaning: I still had internet access and whatnot, but the PC I normally use (the one where I have all my passwords filled out automatically, if I don’t have an ongoing session already; the one I have all the software I use installed and configured; the one where all my work-in-development is) was broke. Its unbroke now, though. ^_^

Statistics

I just overheard my sister make a comment about some commercials. She said it didn’t make sence that you should eat 2 pieces of fruit and 200G of vegetables (commercial from the health department in our govermen), yet 90% of all teethrot is caused by fruits (according to a toothpaste producer).
This got me thinking. Why do we rely on statistics this much? I know I don’t trust them unless I can see information on how they where gathered, but when I look around me, I think thats just me being paranoid. (Or other people being stupid. 😉 ) When I look around me, I don’t just see people take interpetations of statistics as facts, but just about anything else that looks in any way “official” or has enough impressive words in it. Ad to that the increasing ease of making a source of information look like it can be trusted to be objective and honest, and I worry. Because, if you can get half the population beleave that they need to eat fruit to be healthy, and use product X with its “unique” substance to stop the teethrot caused by that fruit, who knows what else you can do?
